My advice to my teen « Result #5 on Aug 13, 2008, 7:10am »
As a parent, the only advice I've been able to give my teen is to delete any requests from people she doesn't personally know. If she is familiar with the person who requests "friend", then I let her make the decision as to whether or not to add the person to her contacts. Once the person becomes rude or mean, they are deleted.
A great idea « Result #6 on Aug 13, 2008, 7:07am »
I just wanted to say that I think this link is a great idea. My daughter has suffered numerous cyber bullies using her my space and my yearbook pages. I try to coach her through the incidences, but I think having a "place" to let others know her story and to here from others about their experience will be more benificial.

The teen to talk « Result #7 on Dec 16, 2006, 8:37pm »
I'm a teenager who has created this forum as a part of my Gold Award as a Girl Scout. This is a big issue to me, I lost my best Friend after she meet someone on line. To tell you she is alive and well after I told and Adult about the issue which was happening. You can go to my website on the topic, www.geocities.com/childrenscybersafety/index.html

My Story « Result #8 on Dec 16, 2006, 8:33pm »
My best friend at the time was chatting with a guy she meet on line. At first I thought it was harmless. Then she gave him her cell phone number. She was planing on meeting him in real life. I had been frightened for her safety. So my first approach was to get him away from her by emailing him a comment to stay away from her. The next day I told my parents the issue that had come about. At the end of our conversation my friend calls me, yelling at me for my comment to the guy. I told her I was trying to protect her, she wouldn't even listen to me. She said lie after lie to get herself out of trouble. In the end she ended our friendship that day, over trying to protect her. She is now in my class and alive and well as far as I know. But I thought ya'll would like to hear the story that got my Gold Award started.
